Hello
Sorry, I have become obsessed with paper flowers as my Gibsons BFF's daughter is getting married next year. I volunteered my help for her bouquet.
What threw me off was she hates roses and her groom is allergic to real flowers so the entire bouquet has to be paper. Suspect this includes greenery.
And the kicker is she wants orchids - the hardest flower in the world of paper to look real. So I have been testing every paper to see what translates into beautiful paper orchids.
I am up to the challenge.

Friday Favourites - Wedding Bouquet, Tato Kirigami
![]() |
| Lia Griffith |
Admittedly I chastised her Mum for wanting to photobomb the proposal - that is another story.
I don't know about you but paper flowers can be so stunning who would want the real thing?
So here is the ultimate paper bouquet from no less than Lia Griffith that I am more than willing to make for our lovely bride-to-be.
This little kirigami Tato & box project is under development but how cute is this?

Oh Crocuses - I missed you..
Spring for me starts with these delicate little flowers showing up in my lawn.
Today they are just about to bloom.
Tomorrow I'll post some paper flower blooms for the upcoming "Makerie" but nothing in the world is quite as beautiful as these sweet flowers that are a promise of Spring.
Welcome to Spring on the Sunshine Coast!

Mar 5 & 6 Wildflower Makerie - (Ahem) Wildflower Crop
Deb and I have this discussion every time she creates a weekend Crop. I always refer to it as a "Makerie". Friends gather together to share their passion for all things handmade. For me it's paper crafting & origami but if you're a jewellery artisan, a knitter, a card maker or a scrapbooker this is the place for you on March 5th & 6th at the Arts building in Gibsons.
For FMS Facebook page follow Deb's link here.
Family Matters Scrapbooking is hosting another awesome cropping weekend, March 5th and 6th at the Arts Building in Gibsons. The fun starts on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and we’ll work until midnight, then back at it Sunday morning at 9:00 until 4:00. Crop with us for the two days for $150.00 or if you can only make it for one day $85.00. The price includes meals as well as a great, creative work space. For those of you who may not be familiar with a Scrapbooking Crop this is where we get together with friends and other crafty people and work on our projects in a creative, fun filled environment. Bring anything your working on, it doesn’t have to be Scrapbooking. There will be door prizes and other surprises!
Saturday as well as the crop we will be offering an All Occasion Card Class featuring Stampin Up’s Flower Patch stamp set and co-ordinating dies. Class will start at 10:00 and you will be making 12 cards. The class is great for beginners as well as our more experienced stampers. You will be learning lots of hints on double stamping as well as how to perfectly line up your stamped images with your
coordinating dies.
Sunday we will offer a Mini Album Class using the same stamp set as well as Stampin Up’s Bohemian designer paper. This class also is a perfect start for a beginner as well as the more experienced paper crafter.

Hello Galentines!
Did you know Friday is Galentine's Day?
I was experimenting with little boxes and rose origami truffle holders a few weeks back and asked if my girlfriend would like if I sent her some for her West Coast Express commuter friends.
She makes the most lovely chocolate truffles.
Can't wait to see some pics from the West Coast Express. The little truffle box is a design by Robyn Glynn. The origami truffle rose. Sweet ..

Envelope Punch Board - Bon Bon Box
So back in January I bought an envelope punch board after looking through Pinterest. Did you know you can make all kinds of boxes using this handy tool?
I think my favorite box so far is the little bon bon cracker and it's so easy to make.
I used My Mind's Eye 6" paper as I was going for a Galentine girly look but by changing the paper the possibilities are endless.
This would be a great DIY for a bridal shower or even an escort card at a wedding as you can mass produce them if you buy an envelope punch board. Only $ 25.00 from Deb your local Stampin Up consultant.
I'll be be demonstrating three different EPB boxes at the upcoming Spring crop here in Gibsons in early March. Stay tuned for details.

Happy Ground's Hog Day! Tiny Origami Bag Favors
So I have been working on little origami bags sans Paper Kawaii using 6" square paper as my base.
When you go to a smaller footprint either DSP (designer series paper) or origami paper works best. Text weight paper just becomes too wrinkled and will not give you clean folds and a professional bag.
The DSP is quite hard to fold as it is thicker so I kept it simple without the fan fold & a larger fold which holds together and the items will not fall out.
Origami paper will give you crisp folds for a small gift favor and you can make either a fan fold or offset the fold as pictured.

Hello February - Easy Origami Gift Bag
I found this charming bag over at Paper Kawaii with video instructions here.
My bag made from standard US letter size text weight paper - stands 6" high by 31/2" wide. I pulled out my stash of washi tape and decided to go flowery inspired by the tiny box I made with my envelope punch board. My rose is a truffle holder which is really sweet.
This picture really doesn't do these projects justice - someday the sun will come.
Do have a try making the bag - it's so versatile. I'll post some different looks later this week.

Hello - Yes I'm Back
Hello blog-o-sphere after a year of being very quiet I am here - with a different focus. Time to change it up!
I decided that I should combine my love of origami with my fascination of boxes. Hard to say why I love to make boxes - maybe it's the challenge that my high school Math teacher said to me on graduation - "You worked very hard to pass, congratulations - you and mathematics are incompatible."
Not really Sir, just like geometry more than damn trig (sorry Sheldon).
