You can use just about any paper you have hanging around. I started with an old National Geographic map that was ripped and tattered. If your are using wire you really have to make sure the wire is straight to get the best results. Hint, take the wire and tape it to a straight edge overnight to make it behave.
What I found is construction paper works way better than card stock. Card stock is just too stiff to give you the softness of a feather. And, I have determined that I need way better scissors than I have but you get the idea.
In fact I think newspaper would be the ideal medium to make large feathers that you could hang in a window display or behind a sweet heart table.
You really have to experiment but my favourite feather is in the background of the image made of construction paper. I'll post the DIY this weekend - so easy and pretty.
Punched Paper Feather Instructions
Materials:
Corner Punch (Double Arch)
Scissors
Bone folder
Bamboo screwer
Construction Paper
Thin double side tape
When I started thinking about making many paper feathers - I considered if one were to go crazy making 60 escort cards how labour intensive this would be. So this is a simple version that could use card stock with light gauge wire and be hung in a window display or cocktail area.
Place finished edge of paper in corner punch. Then fold you paper or card stock diagonally to make the centre of your feather. Cut out your general feather shape and then cut 3 or 4 notches like the picture to suggest the feather outline. Measure the tape and attach to the centre of the feather and press the bamboo screwer to the folded taped guide.
And that's it - easy peasy...
