So they were so sweet as they had their first ski lessons the same day and all they really wanted to do was take a shower rather than have a craft lesson.
Don't they look jaunty? So my labour of love lies in the smiles of my girls. Eat your heart out Kate our fascinators are made of paper and love. Many thanks to Emily who was my focus group - yes Em, still waiting for your pic. Happy birthday to all my March girls; many happy returns.

Make the Brim & Crown
Take your glass bowl invert it and draw your circle centred on the inside of the paper plate. Cut the circle out and trim any raw bits. To make the crown, take your glass bowl invert it and draw your circle centred on the coffee filter. Cut the circle out and trim any raw bits.
Take your brim (the linen like side facing up) and measure to find the centre, make a little dot with your pencil. Centre your paper cup and trace a faint circle of the bottom of the cup on the brim.
Warning next step to done by an adult.
Using your pencil make two 3/4" parallel lines inside the cup bottom circle of the brim. Using you cutter and a metal ruler score the lines 3 or four times to create two slits to pull your ribbon through. (See above picture).
Before threading your ribbon find the centre and cut a tiny slit for the fastener. Take your skewer and poke a centre hole in the bottom of the cup and the centre of your brim. Thread your ribbon and then push the fastener from the bottom of the brim and attach it to the cup.
Tip: to push the pins down to hold the fastener inside the cup use the handles of your scissors.
How to Attach the Crown
You will notice that the cup is treated with wax so you need to scuff it up so your tape will stick. I sanded the circumference just under the top rim and down the back seam so my tape will stick better.
Take your crown (coffee filter) and centre it on the top and put a rubber band to hold it. With your finger rub the rim gently to score the crown. Remove the rubber band and crown. Take your double sided tape and attach just under the rim. Press the crown sides down slowly and try and keep the top taunt. Trim off any excess filter.
Finally you can attach your cup cover. Before you attach the double sided tape make sure your cover has an overlap for the seam. If the seam is too wide you can go ahead and trim it.
I used the 1/5" double sided tape and attached it to the inside edge. I anchored the other end with a tiny bit of tape starting at the cup seam so I could adjust it if need be.
