And then there's Tiffany's - Design
Ideas sometimes come from well, your favourite movie. Combining elements and colour is the genesis of any event. Yeah Holly Golightly and black, white and pink.
Seriously, this is one of my favourite movies and would be ideal for a bridal shower or a fund raiser aimed at boomers.
Then again, who relates to a young woman who just happens to be a call girl that has a fantasy life that starts with toast at the most expensive jewellery store in Manhattan NY? The truth is when I first saw the film, I only remember the clothes she wore, her cat and the theme song "Moon River." I was ten years old.
Still that was the best little black dress ever and made every skinny girl a fashion icon.

Take a Look - Event Design
If girls want to have fun and raise a little money for a favourite charity - sit down and make a budget. It doesn't matter whether this is a shoe sale, a girl's night out fundraiser or an engagement party.
Second who is your audience? It depends on whether your audience is captive or the general public. Enticing your clientele to a Spring Peep Show of shoes is a lot harder than an engagement party.

Inspiration - to Start
Seriously, I don't hear voices but I do hear a song title. I always start with a song as my inspiration because it helps me focus on the elements of a storyboard.
To be honest you may go down a road and say hey that's a great idea but belongs to fall not spring. So here's the first idea.
I was looking for something for my tattoo girl and came up with "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". I started with my favourite landmark in Vancouver the steam clock in Gastown. (Bottom left corner). The event is a fund raiser and I thought we could do a "Steampunk Trunk Show and Auction". The only springy thing is the colour block shoe - the rest would be jewel colours and funky old world air balloons. Wait a minute!
There is everything fall about this concept and well just doesn't sing spring or "Girls Wanna Have Fun". Maybe a bit too goth for spring.
My point is you may start your vision with an idea and well, go down the rabbit hole. I parked the steam and found another inspiration.
So I went back to the song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and discovered paper straws. Really paper straws?
Yes, and kirigami blossoms.
The thing is what season you have your event has a very strong influence on the look and feel of what you do. You can surprise people but don't make a deary black draped tree with pumpkins in the middle of spring. Make it interesting but don't waste a connection with your audience.

Inspiration - How to Tell Your Story
Oh The Pretty Blog you are the prettiest. Look at the simplicity of these leaf escort cards. What I love about research is finding a picture that speaks to design inspiration with a twist. A brave bride with a wristlet flower arrangement instead of the traditional bouquet. Wow, we've come a long way from those ugly prom flowers eh?
Yikes this wedding is beautiful but this look isn't just for weddings. You could easily adapt this to a storefront display or a girl's just gotta have fun fund raiser.
So I'll be doing two spring inspiration boards for you - no DIY this week but a look at the process of design.
